If you are one of the many people that are applying for a cheap life insurance policy and are going through the rigmarole of completing the lengthy application form and getting together the various pieces of information that you are required to submit alongside it, it is not uncommon for the odd oversight to be made.

It can often be quite intimidating when you are presented with an application form that seems more like Sunday's edition of the The Times in it's thickness and including every question imaginable, bar what your favorite color is.

When it comes to completing the application form you may think that you need a day off work and a spare pen in case the one you start out with runs out of ink. Fear not though, it is not as hard as it looks as a vast majority of the questions are multiple choice and many will not even apply to you.

The key thing when it comes to applying for a cheap life insurance policy is to just make sure you complete the form carefully and provide any information with it that is asked for, this could be a certified copy of your passport or driving license in order for the insurer to verify your identity or an additional questionnaire in relation to a medical condition or pass time that you, have or may have had in the past.

If an insurance company receives an application and there is just one section of questions, or even just a single question missing they will not be able to proceed with processing and underwriting it until these omissions have been rectified. The customer will be sent the question/s back in order to be completed and signed for verification.

This procedure can be a major inconvenience to you and hold up the whole process by days or even weeks. If you have submitted your application at a time where the insurer is receiving a lot of business then despite it getting to the front of the queue once, when you send your information in for a second time it will start off again at the back.

Having an insurance agent can be ideal when you are applying for a cheap life insurance policy because they can go through the form with you and also vet it once you have completed it before sending it to the insurer, this is a real safety net and something that does not necessarily have to cost you because the insurance company will pay the agent commission as opposed to you paying them for their time. By using an agent though your premium may be slightly more expensive than if you were applying off of your own back on what is known an 'execution only' basis.

Ensuring that your policy is in force as quickly as possible is down to you as much as it is down to the insurance company so make sure that you make their job as easy as possible by providing all of the information that they ask for straight away. Applying for a cheap life insurance policy really is a straight forward process, it just requires your attention!
